The Future of StellarStop

I'd like to talk to you all for a little bit about the future of StellarStop. But before we cast our gaze towards the future, let us start by looking at how far we've come.

Stellarstop was founded on the 16th of July 2008 - almost 2 years ago! Originally intended to be both a MechScape Fan Site and a RuneScape Clan, Stellarstop has continued to grow in size, while many clans around us have simply fallen apart and simply faded out of existence.

Over time, MechScape became Stellar Dawn, and our RuneScape Clan became more of a RuneScape Community. Our clan chat continues to thrive with life, and we have now run over 100 successful Clan Events. Not only that, but we've ended up with the coolest community that I personally have ever been a part of. 8)

However, as a few people have pointed out, over the last few months we haven't been doing so well. It's not that we've been doing bad - but we haven't been growing as much as we used to.

The reason? We haven't really tried anything new, we haven't been focusing on advertising the clan, and we're still awaiting the release of Stellar Dawn.

And so on that note, let us cast our gaze towards the future :)

Unfortunately, Stellar Dawn's release date is something that we have absolutely no control over. However, what we do have control over is how successful Stellarstop will become once Stellar Dawn is released. We have put a huge amount of work into preparing the website for Stellar Dawn's release, and I expect that our community will literally double in size overnight when Stellar Dawn is released. Guides on the StellarStop website will each easily receive thousands of views within the first week of Stellar Dawn's release (I've done the math), and our community will expand rapidly. We are in such a position that we could easily become one of the world's most popular Stellar Dawn Fan Sites, and that is exactly what we are aiming for.

However, the Stellar Dawn release is still likely to be months away, and so I've thought long and hard about how we can expect to grow the most as a community before this happens.

We currently have almost 500 forum members - let's make it to 1000 before Stellar Dawn comes out!
Let's get to the point where we have a scrollbar in the Clan Chat - 24/7!
Let's start hosting more events - and have massive attendance every time!

Here are a couple of the things that I would like to introduce over the next week or two:
  • Every second Friday will be a "Strange Friday", which we will host some sort of strange recruitment event on. These events will take place at a similar time of the day to our current events.
  • I will soon be starting up a small RS Video-Making Community so we can get some cool YouTube vids circling around the Stellarstop Forums. I would love to hear your suggestions for this one especially.

Here's to the future! ;D

Not everyone has as much free time on there hands as you Jesse.

I remember when i first joined Mechstop,
I posted a thread on Tip.it asking for a 100+ Aussie clan.
At the time all i thought that was fun in clans was PVP so when Dylan posted Mechstop at first i was Like wtf?
why would i wanna join a clan that barely does pvp??
but Dylan mention Wreckstop, which sounded promising but unfortunently not everyone was as PVP orientated as me
back then, but as time went on i was like hey this other than-PVP clan was pretty cool, i'd never talked banana to people on Ventrilo/Skype for hours on end that i'd never met in person; until i join this clan, so it was a good choice to decide to join this community of generally good people.

So yeah i'm hoping to help out in any way possible to recruit people when i can, i'm always up to changing my name to help out at the cost of people laughing at me  :P :P
I'm not that good of a Video editor but when i'm on i'll help out with what ever videos i can.
but uh... strange friday, sounds a bit strange don't ya think?  :P, if i'm on fridays, i'll happily do what ever i can to encourage people to join up, sweet talk some people  ;) with lots of  :) :D ;D 8).

well, it seems to me you have this clan organized in a lot of ways but here are some thoughts improve this clan, entirely you don't have to follow what I say but if you want to take some advice here it is:

One of the things thats clear to me is people who are in control or advisors of different division such as events coordiantor or activities director which could be some, so themain though is to rpomote leaders for certain parts of this clan, to even further it maybe a head of advertisement, in my case it could really improve the site's and clan's organization, into further refrences the new release of stellar dawn we might need people to direct people to information and/or help with it.

Some other thoughts that I had is expanding it for the future for different games that other  members mgiht play, which by the way is one of the things I picked up from a clan from a game called halo pc combat envolved, and the site had games and expansion, now I'm still new to the site itself so if you do then have expansions that it was a waste reading this part.

But, do you see the oppurtunity thats a hand?

We have no plans to branch on the website into other games at this point. There is just no room for it at the present moment.

We do have ranks, but not leaders, in terms of events, everything is shared between the universal moderators and the actual clan event organisers.

For Stellar Dawn however, there will be key leaders, for there needs to be some prime authority; especially considering there are going to be 4 playable races.

Other then that, any problems with having large leaders are the lack of responsible people, suitable for the job.

Thanks for the suggestions, Vince. I think Dylan gave some pretty good replies to each of your ideas 8)
